Regular Nicotine and Nicotine Salts

Nicotine or Nicotiana tabacum is a chemical substance which is found in different plants including that of tobacco. This chemical is usually found in plants but it can also be created synthetically. Nicotine is usually associated with smoking although other forms of nicotine intake have also been there alongside.

Smoking dates back to as far as 5000 B.C in the Americas where it was used in Shamanistic rituals. However, with the arrival of Europeans in the 16th century the trading, consumption and cultivation of tobacco spread rapidly.

Along with the passage of time, the usage of tobacco and thus nicotine went through numerous changes. Some considered it harmful whereas others used it for medicinal and religious purposes.

This was because tobacco which essentially contains nicotine, serves both as stimulant and sedative. A “kick” is experienced by an individual who is exposed to nicotine. This is called the nicotine effect. It reacts with the adrenal glands thereby releasing adrenaline in the body.

After a long battle between the goods and ills of nicotine and the usage of Tobacco, along came Nicotine salts. Nicotine salts are extracted from the same Plants which are used for the production of regular nicotine or ‘freebase’ nicotine.

One of the core differences between freebase nicotine and nicotine salts is molecular modification made in the PH and alkaline levels which has been made possible by introducing benzoic acid to the compound.

Much like everything else in the world, Nicotine salts (consumed typically through electronic vaporizers or ‘vapes’) and regular nicotine has its own pros and cons. One of the most commonly known facts about nicotine salts and traditional nicotine is that ‘nic salts’ are smoother on throat.

Flavor also weighs in towards the ‘nic salts’ as it contains much less of the traditional compositional taste as compared to regular nicotine due to the modification of the blend. Affordability is another undeniable factor as nicotine salts are less expensive than traditional nicotine.

Shortcomings of nicotine cannot be ignored as well. In comparison with traditional salts, nicotine salts and e-liquids have much less variety and supply. Although gaining fast popularity, the industry is quite new thus limiting the options for the users of nicotine salts.

One more of the factors to be considered is that due to its easy and quick absorption, too much of it can cause headaches and dizziness. Also, heavy smokers need a much heavier doze than a regular or light smoker, which makes freebase nicotine a better option for hard players.

In the end it all comes down to the person who decides to use nicotine as to what product he might pick for his own satisfaction.
